The radiant emittance of news pictures without comments or explanations represents a relatively new television format. With such “NoComment” – formats spectators have the feeling to attend events very closely and directly, whereby the television experience works more authentically than with conventional forms of medial report. This uncommented footage formed the basis of the multimedia installation Breaking News. By using up to date “NoComment” – films the installation manufactures black-and-white, “colorless” pictures, which are projected on rotary mirrors on the walls of the showroom. Thus an atmospheric “shadow world of up to date news pictures” is produced.
