A SAGAN SAGA
VOYAGER II – A SAGAN SAGA was developed parallel to the Performance VOYAGER I and is concerned with the question of the overlapping of scientific and artistic modes of representation. The selection of sounds and pictures on the Voyager Golden Record was made by a team led by the pop-astronomer and ‘father’ of the record: Carl Sagan. In the audio play VOYAGER – A SAGAN SAGA, Carl Sagan was turned into the protagonist of a fictive history of the Voyager Golden Record. The audio-play became part of a performative audio-walk through the museum of natural history in Bern. The participants were led to discover the dark space of the museum and the public space, accompanied by sounds and performances that created a counterpart to the ‘objectivity’ of the museums’ collection.
