The ‘Osterfestival der Kunsthochschulen’ is a Festival at the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin. It took place 31st of March 2013. Beside other students from Gießen also K.A.U. was part of a initiated boycott there. The group extended a one hour scheduled Performance into a boycott of the festival. They organised a discussion with the audience and the other artists. The group protested against the bad conditions of the Osterfestival which was an outstanding example of a typical trend in the German cultural landscape: To pay artists very little or no money at all, but giving young artist the possibility to have a show in a ‘professional environment’. At the same time the action understood itself as a criticism of the festival motto ‘Aufstand Proben’ (Practising Rebellion) and the implied term of art. Back then the Maxim Gorki Theatre labeled itself with the keywords rebellion and political action, but at the same time it reproduces exploitative conditions for the artists. After 2013 the Osterfestival der Kunsthochschulen did not take place again.
